Elevating the Pet Retail Experience with a Holistic Focus to Petcare

100% Irish-owned, Petmania is the leading pet retailer in Ireland with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in the pet retail sector. The business partnered with TAP for a comprehensive year-long collaboration focusing on Brand Development, Communications, and the redesign of their stores.

The objective was to rejuvenate the brand and enhance the overall customer and pet experience across all Petmania outlets. Through strategic initiatives, including customer research and store reinvigoration, Petmania aims to set new standards in the pet retail sector.

Defining the “Home of Irish Racing”

Our brief was to enhance the customer experience throughout this landmark sporting facility, so that it connects more emotionally with the horse racing community. Applying a considered approach to how the various areas must be used and flexed for different race days and events.

To do this, we held workshops with multiple stakeholders focused on customer personas and user needs. This enabled us to understand each customer type, their different requirements and preferences. From here, we mapped out the various customer missions and journeys. We then developed tailored design concepts, zoning, and ways to highlight different spaces within the facility.

A pivotal part of bringing more life to the physical space is the application of environment branding and storytelling, which centres on legendary horse racing figures and the rich history of The Curragh. To add definition, curated areas are identified with references to Kildare and horse culture. A one-of-a-kind, horseshoe-inspired seating structure was designed as a focal point in the Champions Hall. All elements work together to make the brand experience more meaningful and memorable.

Laya partnered with us to deliver a consultant-led Health and Wellbeing Clinic in Limerick that would set a new standard in member experience. With a strong focus on brand and environment, our challenge was to create an inviting and accessible space that stood apart from competitors while maintaining the essential functionality of a clinical setting. By understanding the services offered, we designed a solution that reflected Laya’s promise of “Looking after You Always,” conveying warmth, credibility, and a genuine sense of care.

Through close collaboration with Laya’s strategic and delivery teams, we defined a clear direction rooted in global best practices in healthcare design. Our solution balanced clinical needs with warmth, using materials like wood and feature lighting to create a welcoming atmosphere, while thoughtful details, from furnishings and graphics to wayfinding, it ensured a seamless, branded journey. Digital content screens enhanced member engagement, and careful attention to hygiene, durability, and universal accessibility established a forward-thinking clinic model that now serves as the benchmark for future Laya spaces.

Reinventing the Food Experience

As Ireland’s leading grocery brand, SuperValu partnered with TAP to reimagine the in-store experience and set a new benchmark for food retail through their Knocklyon flagship. Responding to evolving consumer demands and a younger, more diverse audience, the project was a collaborative effort involving brand, customer experience, and development teams. The result is a bold, future-focused store design that brings the vibrancy of ‘Real Food, Real People’ to life through authentic materials, dynamic food destinations, and immersive retail storytelling.

From a welcoming fresh food market entrance to thoughtfully curated hotspots across ambient aisles, the store is designed to encourage exploration, highlight value, and celebrate food. Distinct brand zones like The Happy Pear & Friends, Caramico pizza, and Donnybrook Fair add personality while remaining unified under a confident, modern aesthetic. Practical design elements, like signature green steel fixtures, natural wood finishes, and flexible community spaces, combined with operational functionality to support a seamless customer journey. The Knocklyon store now serves as a model for future rollouts, delivering fresh, convenient experiences that strengthen SuperValu’s bond with its community.

To help attract top talent in an increasingly tech-driven market, FBD partnered with TAP to reimagine their workplace into a space that fosters collaboration, reflects their unique culture, and supports the way their teams work. By asking the right questions, such as “who needs the space and how they want to use it”, we were able to define the requirements early on and design a workspace that balances culture, interaction, behaviour, and functionality.

The result is a dynamic, multi-zoned environment guided by thoughtful layout design and an environmental graphic style that subtly weaves through the space, bringing vibrancy and cohesion. From focused work areas to shared collaborative zones, the design supports both individual and team needs while remaining adaptable to future shifts in work culture. As businesses continue to redefine their office spaces post-COVID, this forward-thinking design sets a strong precedent for safe, inclusive, and community-focused work environments.
